Please read this Hire Agreement T&Cs before your booking. We will be pleased to clarify any points on which you may have a query via email ( – we’re more than happy to explain anything to you before you head on your adventure. 

  1. 1. The Hirer/Drivers Eligibility

The insured vehicle shall be driven only by the Hirer or other permitted driver who has completed and signed the Hirer’s Agreement Form immediately prior to any hiring. Additional drivers may be added to the Insurance Policy at an additional cost during the booking process. A maximum of two drivers can be insured on the vehicle during the hire period.

a)  Hirer/ Drivers must be aged 23 to 79 years of age unless otherwise agreed by the Insurer. If you would like to add a driver that is aged 21-22 then please contact us ahead of booking to confirm whether they can be added to the insurance.

b) Hirer/ Drivers must have held a full valid driving licence for 2 years.

c) Hirer/ Drivers must not have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or more than 6 penalty points imposed. “Spent” convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 may be disregarded. 

d) Hirer/ Drivers must not have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any Motor Insurer. 

e) Hirer/ Driver must not be wholly or partly engaged in professional entertainment or professional sports persons. 

f) Hirer/ Drivers must not be Jockeys and persons connected with racing, gaming industry or press of any sort. 

i) Hirer/ Drivers must not have been involved in more than one fault accident during the past 3 years whilst driving.

g) Hirer/ Drivers must not be Foreign Service Personnel other than persons holding a full UK/EU licence for two years or more. 

Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g: parking tickets) which are incurred during the period of hire.

All drivers must be present at Booking Hire Start Day (pick-up)

  1. 2. Hire Charges & Payment Terms

Vehicle Hire Charge means the hire charge for dates booked, including Vehicle Insurance and any Optional Extras for the purpose of the hire of a campervan for the duration of the hire period.  The Vehicle Hire Charge does not include the Security Deposit. 

Optional Extras include but are not limited to Bedding set, portable toilet, Polaroid kit.  All Optional Extras must be selected during the booking process and paid in full ahead of hire commencement. 

Unlimited mileage is included in all our bookings. 

The full Hire Charge (unless otherwise stated) must be paid at the time of making the booking online at We currently accept card and PayPal payment via our website.

A refundable Security Deposit is required on all bookings to cover the Campervan Insurance Excess. Security deposits must be paid via BACS/ bank transfer 4 days before hire commencement from an account in the same name as the hirer. 

  1. Where all drivers on the Hire Agreement are aged between 25-79, the Security Deposit is:

    1. £500

  2. Where one or more drivers are aged 23-24, the Security Deposit is:

    1. £750 

Insurance cover cannot be provided unless the Final Payment and Security Deposit is made. Clock Off Ltd reserves the right to cancel hire booking if the Final Payment or Security Deposit is not received prior to hire commencement.  In these circumstances the Vehicle Hire Charge may be forfeited.

  1. 3. Documentation

Two forms of ID must be provided from the hirer and every additional driver upon collection of the vehicle. The following documentation is acceptable proof of address alongside one utility bill/statement; 

a) Council Tax bill/statement 

b) TV / internet/ landline telephone bill (including Sky/Virgin/BT etc) 

c) Bank Statement 

d) Credit Card Statement 

e) Mortgage Statement 

The proofs of address provided must be dated within 90 days of the hire date and have the same address appearing on the driving licence. 

All drivers must also provide copies of both the front and back of the driving licence for licences issued from mainland UK and a DVLA license check code (this can be retained from ( 4 days before hire commencement. Clock Off Ltd reserves the right to use this information to run a DVLA Online Licence Check. 

All drivers must also bring these physical licenses and forms of ID to vehicle collection.

For Non-UK licence holders/residents, two forms of ID with matching addresses must be provided as above, plus copies of the licence both front and back and one other form of photographic ID must be provided 4 days before hire commencement. All Non-UK License holders must bring this physical licence and two forms of ID to vehicle collection.

Clock Off Ltd reserves the right to cancel the hire if, at the commencement of hire, the Drivers’ licences are invalid or not according to the required conditions or if insurance is declined for any reason. 

In signing this agreement you agree to Clock Off Ltd retaining this information for 2 years following the hire period. 

  1. 4. Insurance

The Insurance cover provided is Fully Comprehensive.  In the event of any accident or damage the hirer will be liable for up to the full amount of the security deposit placed (as per section 2) to cover the insurance excess. The hirer is liable for replacement of damaged windscreens, tyres or engine (following damage).  Personal effects are not insured through this cover. It is the responsibility of the Hirer to provide their own insurance to cover personal items; we would recommend travel/holiday insurance is purchased from a reputable company.  

Fully comprehensive insurance is provided by Clock Off Ltd through our insurers for the driver(s) named on the Hire Agreement (provided all the personal information supplied is correct). Only persons named on the Hire Agreement are insured to drive the vehicle.

No other hire insurance is acceptable for the hire of a Clock Off Ltd vehicle.

Late return of the vehicle will invalidate the hirer’s insurance and will be an offence under the Road Traffic Act.

By signing this Hire Agreement, I acknowledge that:

  1. The Vehicle is insured for damage to the Vehicle and the property of a third party; but does not include any personal insurance for the customer or their possessions.

  2. Standard Insurance does not cover overhead damage, gross negligence, this includes reversing damage, windscreens and tyres. The hirer will be responsible for the cost to repair all damages.

  3. I will have to pay an excess for any Insurance claim regardless of which party is at fault for the accident. The insurance excess is £500 (for drivers aged 25-79 or £750 for those aged 23-24) per claim, not per rental.

  4. I will not have any insurance cover and I will be responsible for the total cost of any damage if I breach any of the terms of this Agreement

  5. I will be responsible for any damage caused through gross negligence and will not be covered by the insurance, this includes any damage incurred whilst reversing.

  6. Following the return of the vehicle, a full handover inspection is carried out. Any damage found will be notified and initially charged from your security deposit (plus any further cost of damage will be invoiced to the hirer if damage costs surpass security deposit amount) once Clock Off Ltd have identified full costs, any remaining amount will be refunded within 10 working days of costs claimed.

  1. 5. Security Deposit

On signing the Clock Off Ltd Hire Agreement you agree to;

Pay a Security Deposit amount as per the terms in Section 2 of this agreement, 4 days prior to hire commencement which will need to be cleared funds by Debit Card / BACS.

This Security Deposit will be returned to you in full 10 working days after return of the campervan provided the campervan is returned on time, undamaged, with at least an 80% fuel tank, with a complete inventory and with a satisfactory clean interior and equipment.  Deductions will be made honestly and fairly for making good any damage to the vehicle and equipment that has occurred during your hire of the camper. If the vehicle is subject to damage whilst in the care of the Hirer including interior damage, theft of its contents, vandalism, or through any breach of this Hire Agreement, the Hirer will be liable for the full costs of all repairs or replacements. If the cost of repair exceeds the Security deposit, the balance of repairs shall be passed on and charged to the Hirer.

The vehicle (interior & exterior) must be returned clean and ready for the next user.  If additional cleaning is required, charges will be made to the Hirer at a rate of up to £200. 

Late return of vehicles (unless by prior notice in writing) will automatically render the Hirer liable for an additional charge of £40 for each hour late or part of.  If vehicles are returned without a 80% full tank of diesel fuel, the Hirer will be charged for each litre of fuel at a rate of £1.60 per litre.  The Hirer is responsible for the care, security and condition of the campervans throughout the hire period.

In the event of an accident, the hirer is liable for the full Security Deposit amount, regardless of fault, to cover the insurance excess. The excess will be refunded to you if we are successful in recovering the costs of the damages from the third party.  You acknowledge and agree by signing the agreement that you must pay for anything not covered by insurance or the deposit.


The hirer accepts that the limitation of liability to the contractually agreed security deposit does not apply to: 

(a) Damage caused to the campervan where the terms of the Hire Agreement have been breached 

(b) Any damage or loss caused by a negligent act/For damage or loss intentionally caused by You; 

(c) Mechanical problems E.g. clutch/gearbox due to driver negligence; 

(d) Replacement or repair of aerials, glass or wheels 

(e) Damage caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel 

(f) Missing wheel trims, tools or spares; 

(g) For damages caused by neglecting proper operating procedures, e.g. incorrect fuel type and quality, ignoring oil or coolant levels, air pressure; 

(h) Damage to the underside of the vehicle or the roof is deemed as gross negligence. Any such damage will be charged at a fixed cost of £2000 plus the full security deposit on the vehicle; 

(i) The theft of the vehicle if the keys are left in the ignition or in or on the vehicle whilst unoccupied and the hirer shall be held fully responsible for a replacement vehicle; 

(j) Damage caused to windscreen, mirrors and/or tyre damage

(k) For damage caused by the incorrect use of snow chains; 

(l) Damage caused to the campervan when using the campervan in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic 

(m) Damage and associated costs with recovery of a bogged vehicle 

(n) Damage caused due to a single vehicle roll over 

In these cases, the hirer shall be liable for the full amount of damages. If you cause any damage during the agreed usage period due to gross negligence, the hirer shall be liable to Clock Off Ltd for an amount commensurate to the severity of the negligence, up to and including the full amount of the loss. The burden of proof that gross negligence has not occurred lies with you.

Clock Off Ltd is entitled to withhold the security deposit, until your liability and the amount of damage or loss has been finally determined.

  1. 6. Travel Outside the UK

Prior notification of your intention to travel outside UK Mainland, with written permission is required to be obtained from Clock Off Ltd and it is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure their EU travel is compliant with Covid-19 Travel restrictions. The Hirer may travel in any EU countries (excluding Turkey), Iceland, Norway or Switzerland.

All vehicles will be provided with both full UK and EU Breakdown Cover and the appropriate level of fully comprehensive insurance. 

To comply with current EU traffic regulations, whilst travelling in Europe, you must carry the following items:

  • Fluorescent/High Visibility Jacket

  • Road Safety Triangle

  • Spare Bulbs

  • GB or EU sticker

  • Head Light Angle Adjusters.

Travel through France – Two Government Approved breathalyser test kits must be carried in the motor home – failure to carry this kit may result in prosecution by relevant authority.

These items may be provided with the Vehicle or can be purchased from the outbound port/ferry terminal. 

  1. 7. Proper Care of the Vehicle

The Hirer is responsible for the care and security of the vehicle for the duration of the Hire Period and agrees to return the Vehicle to Clock Off Ltd in the same condition received, ordinary wear and tear excepted, on the date specified. The Hirer will be liable for additional costs and charges if due care has not been taken. 

This includes:

  • A charge of up to £200.00 for a cleaning if the vehicle is not returned in an acceptable state of cleanliness. As previously stated in Section 5.

  • A charge of up to £50 for emptying the waste water tank and foul water tank (Toilet).

  • The full cost of making good any damage to the vehicle caused deliberately, by improper use or by an act of negligence.

  1. During the Hire Period

Vehicle operation: The campervan welcome pack comes included with easy to read instructions for each aspect of the campervan. However, should you experience any difficulties with the operation of the campervan during the Hire Period, please contact Clock Off Ltd immediately to enable us to offer assistance. We’re happy to help!

  1. 8. Breakdown

Clock Off Ltd will hand over the vehicle in good mechanical condition. In the event of a mechanical breakdown, the Hirer is to inform Clock Off Ltd immediately. Full UK & EU Breakdown Cover is included in all campervan hire bookings.  If mechanical breakdown results in a shortened holiday Clock Off Ltd will refund each complete day of non-use.  Clock Off Ltd shall not be held liable for any losses incurred e.g. missed ferry crossings, booked accommodation/activities, replacement vehicle costs or any other consequential loss claims arising from campervan breakdown or accident. 

  1. 9. Accidents & Incidents

Road Traffic accidents and theft must be reported to the nearest Police Station and Clock Off Ltd immediately and where necessary a ‘supplied’ accident report form completed. 

If  the Vehicle is stolen, it should be reported to Clock Off Ltd immediately and in any event within 24 hours.  It should also be reported to the Police immediately and a crime reference number should be obtained and provided to Clock Off Ltd. The Hirer agrees to follow the theft process outlined in the welcome pack.

The Hirer agrees that in the event of an accident you will:

  1. NOT make any admission of liability or give money to any injured person

  2. Will obtain the name and address of any other driver and registration mark of any other vehicle involved

  3. Will obtain insurance Certificate details from any other driver you hold responsible for causing the accident and give such details to anyone that similarly holds you responsible (you are compelled to provide such information by the Road Traffic Act 1988)

  4. Will obtain the name and address of any witnesses

  5. Will record the position in the road of your vehicle and any other vehicle involved

  6. Will inform the both the insurer (as per the details provided in the welcome pack) and Clock Off Ltd as soon as reasonably possible.

Incidents caused through negligence; wrong fuel, loss of keys or overhead damage will automatically be charged to the Hirer for the full cost of repair/ replacement.  Minor repair goods (i.e. replacement bulbs, wiper blades or fuses but NOT including the water system, audio equipment) may be purchased by the Hirer maximum spend £50 without prior consultation; only on presentation of valid VAT receipts will Clock Off Ltd reimburse the Hirer.

The Hirer is liable as the bailee of the vehicle in respect of any fixed penalty offence committed in respect of that Vehicle under the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988; any excess parking charge which may be incurred in respect of that Vehicle in pursuance of an Order under Sections 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or the Road Traffic Act 1991 during the period of hire. All parking, road-traffic or other legal violations are subject to a minimum £25.00 administration fee.

10. Fuel, Oil and Gas

The Clock Off Ltd Campervans use Diesel fuel.  Vehicles are hired out and are to be returned with a full tank.  (See section 5)

The Hirer is responsible for checking oil & water fluid levels during hire time and topping up if and when required.

4 x Gas canisters will be provided to the Hirer for use on the camping stove. More canisters can be purchased as an Optional Extra during the booking process.

11. Smoking Policy

Clock Off Ltd operates a strict NO SMOKING policy in all our vehicles. This includes smoking in the driving cab, immediately outside the doors or under the awning. If anyone is found to have smoked within these areas during the hire period, the hirer acknowledges that they may lose the full amount of their security deposit plus any additional cleaning costs to remove stains/ smells.

12. Pet Policy

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets to be carried in our hire vehicles. 

13. Alterations to the Vehicle

I shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written consent of Clock Off Ltd

14. Title to Vehicle

I acknowledge that Clock Off Ltd retains title to the Vehicle and its contents and that I possess the goods as a mere bailee only. I do not have any right to pledge Clock Off Ltd’s credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so. I shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.

15. Collection & Returns

Hires start and finish at Grantham Train Station point unless an alternative station has been selected as an optional extra during the booking process or agreed by Clock Off Ltd ahead of collection/ return.

Please allow up to 60 minutes for both collections and returns.  Vehicle collection and return is available Mondays – Saturdays.  The Hirer is advised to check the vehicle thoroughly before leaving the pickup location.  The breakdown or malfunction of equipment, after the vehicle has left the premises will not be accepted as reason to abort or cancel the Clock Off Ltd Rental Agreement; any such fault will be rectified as soon as possible.

Vehicles must be returned between 9am-12pm on the drop off date selected during booking and collected between 9am- 12pm on the pickup date selected during booking, unless previously arranged & agreed.  Failure to comply with these times will result in the Hirer being surcharged at the rate of £40 per hour late. No refund is given for an early return of the vehicle.

Should the late return of the vehicle make Owner liable for extra costs (e.g. compensation for the next hirer), we reserve the right to pass on these costs to the Hirer.

16. Cancellation Policy

Covid-19 Flexible Cancellation Policy 

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, we understand it can be difficult to plan and predict ahead of time. Therefore, we have introduced a flexible cancellation policy to cover you if there is a change in government guidelines or because you have developed Covid-19 Symptoms.

  1. Covid-19 reasons under which you will be fully covered:

  • Local lockdowns in your home location (UK only)

  • Local lockdowns in your pickup location

  • National lockdowns

  • You or a member of your household test positive for Covid-19

  • Track & Trace order you to isolate

2. Covid-19 reasons under which you will be partially covered:

  • You or a member of your household develop Covid-19 symptoms but no test result

  • Local lockdown at 1 or more of your intended destinations

3. Other Reasons which are not covered:

  • Event cancelation

  • Traveling from outside the UK

  • Any and all reasons for cancelling not covered above

Please note, postponement to future dates will be based on booking availability at the time of rearrangement. 

If a Security Deposit has been paid it will be refunded in full provided no other sums are unpaid by way of deposit or otherwise.

Clock Off Ltd reserves the right to refuse hire to any person without explanation or prior warning

17. Cancellation by Clock Off Ltd

Clock off Ltd reserves the right to cancel a reservation before, on or after the commencement of hire as follows: 

(a) Hirer does not provide a valid passport/identity card and driving licence as proof of ID. 

(b) If any Driving Licence is not produced or valid in accordance with stated conditions. 

(c) If a UK driver fails to provide access to information enabling Clock Off Ltd to run a DVLA licence check. 

(d) Hirer fails to provide funds for security deposit payment by debit card or BACS. 

(e) Over occupancy of vehicle in accordance with the provision of seatbelts. 

(f) The address on driving licence does not match billing address where additional proof of ID is not supplied. 

(g) Due to operational issues affecting hire fleet. 

(h) Hirer is in breach of any term in this agreement. 

(i) The hirer obtained the vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation. 

(j) If any statement, representation or warranty made by the hirer in respect to himself/herself or additional drivers is incorrect. 

(k) The vehicle appears to be abandoned. 

(l) In the event of any damage to the vehicle regardless of fault. 

(m) The vehicle is not returned at the agreed date or Clock Off Ltd reasonably believes the vehicle will not be returned on the agreed return date. 

(n) Clock Off Ltd considers on reasonable grounds that the safety of passengers or the vehicle is in danger. 

The hirer understands that in the event of such termination or repossession that the hirer has no right to a refund or any part of the hire charges or the security deposit. In the event of cancellation, Clock Off Ltd’s liability is limited to the refunds of all monies paid by the hirer. No compensation is available for additional arrangements booked by hirer (e.g.: flights, concert tickets).

16. Use of vehicle statement

The Hirer, agrees that during the Hire Period he/she will not and will not allow the vehicle to be:

a) Driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner.

b) Used in a manner that could cause damage to it or the vehicle’s hired contents.

c) Driven in a prohibited area.

d) Driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

e) Left with the ignition key in the vehicle while it is unoccupied.

f) Left unoccupied with the radio/cd / Sat Nav/ personal belongings left in clear sight.

g) Driven by persons under the age of 23 years or over 75 years (without prior authorisation from Clock Off Ltd in writing).

h) Driven by persons not authorised by Law to drive the vehicle.

i) Damaged by submersion in water.

j) Damaged by contact with salt water.

k) Used for any illegal purpose.

l)  Used for racing, rally or contest.

m) Used to tow any vehicle or trailer.

n)  Used to carry passengers or property for hire and reward.

o)  Used to carry more than 2 people (including driver).

p) Used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable materials.

q) Driven by persons not authorised by Clock Off Ltd, who was not present upon collection and has not signed this hire agreement.

r) Otherwise used in breach of my obligations under this agreement.
s) Hire campervans shall not be used for the carriage of goods of an explosive, dangerous or hazardous nature or for the carriage of goods or passengers for hire and reward.
t) Hire Campervans should only be parked and slept in in locations where they have landowner permission and complies with legal restrictions. 

I further agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the Insurance which I have seen and read or have had the opportunity to see and read.

I hereby agree to be bound by these terms and conditions set out in the hire agreement and understand the risks outlined if I am to breach any aspect of this agreement.
