What if we want to add a driver during our trip?

Unfortunately, all drivers must be declared during the online booking process. If you would like to add a driver after the online booking process, but ahead of the pickup, please contact us at clockoffcampers@outlook.com. We need at least 5 working days notice to enable us to run any relevant checks.

As all drivers are required to sign our hire agreement in person in order to validate the insurance of that driver on the vehicle, we are unable to add drivers to the insurance once you have picked up the campervan.

Who has to sign the hire agreement?

Any individual who is noted as a driver during the booking process is required to sign the hire agreement upon pickup, along with the Hirer.

When should I book?

You can book anytime up to 5 days before your chosen pickup date! However, we recommend booking at least a few weeks ahead to give yourself ample time to book any campsites and get yourself ready for the big trip.

How does the booking process work?

STEP ONE: Reserve your booking dates and select any chosen extras and/or drivers.

STEP TWO: Confirm reservation and pay the hire fee upon checkout.

STEP THREE: Pay security deposit ahead of pickup via BACS/ Bank transfer

STEP FOUR: A couple of days before your trip, we’ll verify your driver’s license and ID.

STEP FOUR: pick up your campervan, and enjoy the adventure!

We’ll be in contact via email ahead of your trip to guide you through this full process

What checks are done against my drivers licence?

Ahead of pickup we will ask you to provide the last 8 digits of your drivers license number and a DVLA Check code. Once we have received this information we will be able to run a license check via DVLA a few days ahead of pickup. This is to identify whether you have any penalty points or disqualifications and confirm you are still eligible to drive our campervans in line with our hire agreement.

It is important you check our driver eligibility within our hire agreement here ahead of booking.

You can retrieve a DVLA license check code to provide us for free from the gov.uk website here.

It is still possible to hire a campervan if you have penalty points on your licence?

Unfortunately, our campervans cannot be let out on hire to or be driven by: –

a)  Hirers under 23 or over 79 years of age unless otherwise agreed by the Insurer. If you would like to add a driver that is aged 21-22 then please contact us ahead of booking to confirm whether they can be added to the insurance.

b)  Hirers who haven’t held a full valid driving licence for 2 years.

c) Persons who have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or more than 6 penalty points imposed. “Spent” convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 may be disregarded.

d) Persons who have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any Motor Insurer.

e) Persons engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or professional sports persons.

f) Jockeys and persons connected with racing, gaming industry or press of any sort.

i) Persons who, whilst driving, have been involved in more than one fault accident during the past 3 years.

Can I add extra drivers?

Yes! You can add one extra driver during booking. There can be a maximum of two drivers per booking.
